We can set the list up as only members can post, but still
remain unmoderated. This may stop some of the spam. I'll
be away for a while, but if the consensus is to do that Tom
can make that change. Or we can just press on and ignore it.

More SPAM coming through!!!!!!

Are you guys working on this????? Some kind of acknowledgement that this is currently a problem and being worked on or something would be appreciated. We do appreciate your service beyond words, but don't keep us in the dark.

I'm fine with that. I'd still like to hear something from eGroups.

If we allow only members to post, how will people who don't subscribe to the
email list post clues for boxes they have hidden?

For what it's worth, I have several other egroups, for family and friends, and am
not getting spam in any of the other groups, only LBNA. Don't know if that info
helps in solving the probem or not...

I've tried to lurk/post a couple other eGroups lists that were
members only and have been quite frustrated with that whole thing.
Sure, it's easy to subscribe ("join"), but what if folks don't want
to? I'd prefer us not to be a "members only" group.

Jay ,
I agree completely, when we are trying to build our
hobby we have enough challenges to overcome, than by
making it semi elite...saying you need to be a member
to communicate....if you don't want the message just
check it and delete it before opening....

I can only recall of actually receiving 3 spam messages thru the
letterbox mail. I deleted them quickly & moved on. In fact, I'm pretty
sure I have read more e-mail with spam concerns than actual spam.

...oops... I just added to that number.

I also think restricting access is going to curb the interest of some
people who don't want to subscribe just to get a question answered.

I think we should not restrict access even if we have to deal with a
little spam. Right now I'm getting 1,2,3 a day and am happy to delete
them. Many people wil not "Join" and we ahould want to encourage
participation. Let's just keep on for a while, we can always revisit
the spam question later.
